NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) Spoilers reveal November 8th marked a big, yet, controversial move. Thanks to Jennifer Horton (Melissa Reeves) going into a coma, the action flashed forward one year. This garnered mixed reactions from fans. Some love it, while still others are up in arms about the move. So, why do we think this is the best thing to happen to the show? Here’s what you need to know.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Writing Masterclass

There are several reasons why this is a how-to for anyone who wants to tell a story. Those of us who write fiction have been influenced to some degree by the introduction to soaps and telenovelas. However,’ Days of Our Lives’ spoilers reveal they’ve really nailed things. Here are a few reasons why.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers Friday, November 8: Time Jump A Master Class In Writing

One, the action moving forward a year was a brilliant move. It allowed enough time to pass for some of the events to plausibly happen. It also didn’t go so far ahead that it messed with basic traditions on the show, something that apparently played a big part in the one-year exactly decision. This allowed things to shake up in town, which is important to do here and there. Getting too comfortable for too long leads to stagnation.

Two, they’ve subtly dropped clues to follow along the way. There’s a writing quote out there that says no good book tells you everything at once, so why should TV writing be any different? We were allowed to puzzle over the mysteries in town, and they reveal what they feel needs to know when it needs to be known. That’s lead to some great suspense so far, making DOOL a can’t-miss show.

Third, they’ve kept some things the same for a sense of comfort and familiarity amidst the chaos. But better yet, they’ve kept true to what the show is, and who the characters are. While it seemed out there to have Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) as a nun, when you look at the events leading up to the time jump, as well as what little we know of the missing year, it helps make that twist believable to us. But there’s something else that’s made this a great move.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: New Life

There’s an energy to the show now unlike what we’ve seen in the couple years we’ve been watching the series. The actors are nailing everything thrown at them. At the same time, the twists have to make coming to work an even better experience. They won’t know what they’re doing from one minute to the next, bringing a sense of spontaneity to the show. Here are a couple of examples.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Recent Events

One of those is this week’s developments. The episodes start in current Salem, before going back to fill in blanks. We see the range of the actors as Freddie Smith (Sonny Kikiakis) goes from grieving son and pained husband one second to happily planning a future move with Will Horton (Chandler Massey) the next. We also saw Wally Kurth (Justin Kiriakis) deal with his grief over the loss of Adrienne Johnson (Judi Evans) in the beginning of an episode to watching his final day with his love play out. Same with Kristen, as we see her go from mother-to-be slowly winning over the in-laws to bereaved mother trying to get her man back.  We salute the writers for having the guts to take on this challenge, as well as the actors. We see great things ahead for this show. For any other soap opera and entertainment news, please visit Daily Soap Dish. For more royal and celeb baby news, come back to Celeb Baby Laundry.
