Nine months after he passed away, the shocking scene where a prominent Bill Clinton advisor was discovered hanging from a tree with a gunshot wound to his chest has finally been made public. The sheriff’s investigation into Mark Middleton’s enigmatic death, however, raises more questions than it answers because it determines that he committed suicide despite the absence of the murder weapon.
At the Heifer Ranch in Perryville, Arkansas, an hour west of Little Rock, Middleton, 59, was discovered deceased in May of last year. The report’s release was delayed as a result of a judge’s appeal from his family. They were concerned that the graphic scene’s photos would be leaked. In the end, the judge decided that while information could be made public, photos could not.

According to the report written by Perry County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremy Lawson, ranch employee Samantha McElroy summoned him to the property after discovering Middleton’s abandoned black BMW SUV. The 46-year-old McElroy then made his way around a ranch house.
“I could see what at first appeared to be a man sitting near a tree, as my eyes focused better, I could see a rope of some type going from the tree limb to the male. I could see that he had a gunshot wound to the chest and that he had a knot tied in an extension cord that was around his neck and it was attached to the limb directly above him.”
Three boxes of buckshot and a gun case were discovered during Middleton’s vehicle search, according to the officer, but no weapon was found. The information sheds new light on Middleton’s death, who was discovered dead on May 7 of last year and was a married father of two girls, ages 18 and 20.
