Bodybuilder Neil Currey, who took part in one of the most famous fitness championships in the world, passed away at the age of 34. Currey’s former coach, Milo Sarcev wrote a tribute to Currey saying,
“Absolutely shocking, heartbreaking news – that my former athlete [Neil Currey] died today 😔 My last/best memory of him was this smiling face after he won New York Pro and fulfilled his lifetime dream of qualifying for the Mr. Olympia.
I am lost for words and filled with pain and sadness. My sincere condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. RIP Neil and God bless your soul. 🙏🏻❤️”
The circumstances surrounding the death are still unknown. Currey was reared in the UK where he also developed a lifelong interest in physical training. In 2017, he started competing. According to Generation Iron, he entered his first IFBB contest in 2019, placing seventh in the Classic Physique class.

Mr. Olympia Competitor Neil Currey Dies At Just 34 Years Old
Currey faced up against some of the world’s fittest men all around the globe, from Kuwait to Puerto Rico to New York. Speaking of the Big Apple, Neil earned a spot in the famous Mr. Olympia contest in 2022 by winning the New York Pro.
Later on in the year, Neil realized a lifetime ambition by competing on the Mr. Olympia stage, which was formerly dominated by people like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jay Cutler, and Ronnie Coleman.
Currey finally came in 16th, but just qualifying for the Olympia denotes excellence. Just a few days have passed since the passing of pro women’s bodybuilding pioneer Lisa Lyon, and now we lose Currey. We wish the best for his friends and family during these difficult times and will be thinking of you.
Rest in peace, Neil. He was just 34.
