Meghan Markle is skating on thin ice with Netflix. The Sussexes’ obscene 100 million-dollar deal with Netflix runs out this coming fall, and they have bled the streaming giant dry with little to no success to show for it.
“With Love, Meghan” Has Already Amassed Much Criticism
Harry and Meghan’s tell-all docuseries in December 2022 was a massive hit for Netflix, but the rest of their offerings, like “Heart of Invictus” and “Polo,” were colossal flops.
Meghan’s new cooking show, “With Love, Meghan,” is a last-ditch effort for the Duchess of Sussex.
If Harry and Meghan have a prayer of getting their deal renewed, “With Love, Meghan,” must be a huge hit. That being said, the show is already garnering ridicule from royal experts and critics alike.
The show premieres on January 15th, and Meghan must deliver results. Following Megxit, the Sussexes’ Netflix deal is said to be their primary source of income, which means they could be in serious trouble.
Meghan’s Spotify deal for her podcast, Archetypes, was canceled in 2023 after she produced little work and no payoff; the company decided to part ways with the not-so-royal couple.
To add even more pressure, Meghan’s cooking show coincides with the launch of her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which has yet to see the light of day.
ARO is said to be run in tandem with Netflix and is the Sussexes’ last hope. Their other ventures have been huge disappointments, to say the least, and they depend on this Hail Mary to sustain them financially.
Meghan launched an Instagram account to support the show. This attempt comes after she swore she’d never use social media again. She had previously complained that she was “one of the most bullied people in the world.”
No Information About The Show Is Shared On The IMDB Website
So far, critics and fans have claimed the show is unoriginal, fake, and copying the royals. Meghan also neglects to relate to the average person trying to feed their family and make ends meet.
She’s catering to a demographic that most people don’t fall into: wealthy women with too much time on their hands. Freezing edible flowers in ice sounds elegant and interesting, but who’s doing this at home? The privileged, entitled housewife?
The film’s producers have also curiously chosen not to share any of the crew’s names on the IMDB website. We have no idea how Meghan Markle obtained these recipes or who supported her with cooking on the show.
There’s also nothing creative or authentic about her recipes. For example, Martha Stewart made edible flowers years ago. She also has bees and collects her own honey on the show, which Princess Kate has been doing for years.
Meghan Markle dares to bring all her celebrity and influencer friends on the show. She giggles and hugs people, and it looks fake and contrived.
When the show’s trailer was uploaded, it received 494,000 views on YouTube. Six thousand six hundred sixty people liked it, and 42,000 disliked it. The numbers tell the tale. In the end, if the show isn’t a hit, Harry and Meghan will get the axe, and not even their titles will be able to save them.
