A “Suits” reunion has been confirmed after breaking streaming records on Netflix. The burning question for fans is, will Meghan Markle be a part of it?
The ATX TV Festival has announced that they will honor the show by having a special panel. The festival will take place in Austin, Texas, from May 30th to June 2nd, 2024.
The creator, with cast members Sarah Rafferty, Patrick J Adams, and Dule Hill, have all committed to attending.
Who Meghan Was Before Harry
Markle was an actress in the legal drama, “Suits” before she became Prince Harry’s wife. She played the token pretty lawyer, Rachel Zane, who marries the character Mike Ross (Patrick J Adams) and moves with him to Seattle in the season 7 finale.
“Suits” is centered around Mike Ross, who has a photographic memory and convinces hotshot lawyer Harvey Spector (Gabriel Macht) to give him a job as his associate, even though he never attended law school.
The show started in June 2011 and had its series finale in September 2019. Streaming platforms Netflix and Peacock added “Suits” to its selection of binge-worthy TV shows, and it has enjoyed enormous success.
Meghan attended Variety’s Power of Women Occasion and spoke of the praise and sudden popularity of the show on its streaming platforms.
“It was great to work on, such a great cast and crew. We had a really fun time,” she exclaimed. Markle said that she had “no idea” why the show has made a resurgence, but she took a wild guess.
“It’s hard to find a show you can binge-watch that many episodes these days. So that could have something to do with it. But good shows are everlasting.”
So far, Meghan has not yet commented on whether she will participate in the panel. The Duchess played on “Suits” until 2018.
Meghan Markle Wanted to Start a New Life as a Royal
By then, she was engaged to Prince Harry, and she intended to start her life as a working royal by his side. Meghan chose not to continue with the show and left one season before the show ended.
The Duke and Duchess were married in May 2018. Meghan has not returned to acting since her role in “Suits.”
Another possible reason Markle decided not to continue acting may have been that the royal family provided Meghan with what “Suits” creator Aaron Korsh called “irritating feedback“ about what she could and could not say on the show.
It may have been extremely frustrating as an actress and must have been significantly limiting for her. However, she did choose to be with a royal, and they are notoriously unwavering with the rules.
Many younger people started watching the series to see what Markle was like before she married Harry. The show’s executive producer, Gene Klein, said that if “Suits” got a revival, he thinks that Meghan’s return is “just not possible.”
It is unknown if Meghan will participate in the panel, but it is safe to assume she wants to return to acting. She may be enticed to participate because of her recent power play at the Variety gala.
