Meghan Markle is being asked to submit a draft of her memoir before getting paid, as she is set to tell her truth. The publisher told her to produce three chapters.
The Duchess of Sussex is ready to follow in the footsteps of Prince Harry, whose book, “Spare,” created much drama between Harry and the royal family.
The Publisher Wants Three Chapters of the Book From Meghan Markle Before Payment
Omid Scobie claims that a Meghan Markle memoir would not be a good idea because Meghan is all about controlling her image and doesn’t want to reveal her true self.
Scobie said this about Meghan’s potentially upcoming novel:
“To gain the reader’s respect, you have to be completely human in your portrayal, transparent in your portrayal of yourself. It has to be candid, embarrassing in places, and it has to be all of these things to be the true portrait of a human being rather than the varnished image of a public figure that wants to be seen in a certain way.”
The author explains that this is why Harry’s memoir was so captivating. Harry is more of an honest person, but Meghan would try to gloss over things and be more concerned with presenting an image that the reader would approve of. The dirt and meat of the memoir would be lacking.
Meghan must have felt humiliated when the publisher demanded she pen three chapters before receiving payment. The interested publishers are not convinced that the story would be worth their while, and they want proof that she could sell books.
The issue is that the author cannot always trust the publisher. Discretion with the passages is a must. However, they could leak the story to make some bucks. Top-level security is necessary when giving anyone any parts of a memoir to read.
Meghan’s Book May Not “Tell -All”
Meghan’s story is highly anticipated, as everyone assumes it is the next step. However, Markle was warned not to pen her memoir at this point because of Harry’s “Spare” and Omid Scobie’s “Endgame.”
The monarchy will be worried about yet another tell-all book being released that contains details about the royal family.
A source close to Meghan says that Meghan will be more focused on other areas of her life as opposed to concentrating on her time in the royal family. This means she may be more likely to talk about her time as an actress and her own family.
It Doesn’t sound too compelling. It circles back to the publisher as to whether the public will be interested. Many people want to know closely guarded secrets and intimate details of a controversial situation.
Whether Meghan could go one direction or another is up to her. This is why the publisher wants to see the goods first.
Meghan may also write about her childhood and relationship with her estranged father, Thomas Markle. She may shed some light on why she decided to cut him off.
However, Meghan may ultimately clash with the publishers over the contents of her book. We will need to see which way she decides to go when the time comes.
