Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are returning to New York City five months after the “near-catastrophic” car chase. They compared the pursuit to Princess Diana’s fatal accident when the paparazzi chased her in Paris.

They said the car chase persisted for two hours, later disputed by the New York City Mayor, Eric Adams, who perceived it as “hard to believe.”

The taxicab driver involved in the incident said that Harry and Meghan were only in the cab for ten minutes, and he wouldn’t call what occurred as a “chase.”

Much of what Harry and Meghan do is for publicity, and it is possible that they exaggerated the incident for media attention.

Still, Harry and Meghan are returning to New York for a charity event. Is it a gesture of goodwill or a chance for them to have a photo op doing more” good works?”

After all, it’s not necessarily charity when you use it to elevate your brand. Then again, what do you expect from someone who has a child to sign a non-disclosure agreement?

    The Archewell Foundation

Harry and Meghan will leave their cozy Montecito home to travel to The Archewell Foundation Parent’s Summit for World Mental Health Day.

The two couples walkabout for mourning

The event will focus on how to help families address their children’s mental health being affected by social media. It will aim to assist parents who have experienced a loss due to their child’s involvement with social media.

The Duke and Duchess will participate in an on-stage discussion with Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, which host Carson Daly will moderate. This event will mark the first time The Archewell Foundation is an in-person event.

Harry and Meghan’s plans clash with William and Kate’s forum in Birmingham, also participating in charity for World Mental Health Day. William and Kate will interact with about 100 young people, discussing their mental health challenges with the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Both Couples Need Attention from the Media

Both couples will vie for the spotlight and media attention as they seemingly help a worthy cause. Kate and William announced their event after Harry and Meghan’s. Is it possible they did not want to be outdone by Harry and Meghan?

William and Kate may have announced their event specifically to compete with Harry and Meghan, just like Kate tried to outshine Harry’s Invictus Games by visiting the Royal Naval Air station simultaneously.

However, Harry and Meghan are also guilty of using charity events as PR opportunities. Let’s not forget that Meghan is a great actress who knows how to play the game.

Harry and Meghan have experiences of their own with mental health. Perhaps this explains the urgency to come back to New York.

Meghan talked frankly about her struggles in the couple’s interview with Oprah in 2021. She spoke about her depression, feeling suicidal and trapped.

Of course, Harry has his demons. Meghan and Harry are accused of having narcissistic personality disorder. They both feed off each other’s need to be in the spotlight.

Harry, Meghan, William, and Kate may help bring awareness to causes, but they tend to call more attention to themselves than the cause.
