Matt Hutchins has opened up on the tragic moment in which he had to tell his 9-year-old son about his mother Halyna Hutchins’ death.

The cinematographer had passed away following Alec Baldwin’s prop gun incident on the set of ‘Rust.’ And given that nobody had foreseen such a thing from happening, it was understandably very hard to explain this to a child.
Not only that, but given that somebody has not been held accountable as of yet, the fact that Matt had to do this tested his resolve to the limit.
In an interview with the ‘Today Show’, he said: “I mean, I was heartbroken. And I knew that I had to tell my son right away when I saw him…I told him, sitting together, that his mother had been shot and died.”
There was clearly no right or wrong way of explaining such a thing. And once Matt had decided to reveal everything to his son, the latter was left speechless. So much so that he did not believe this was possible.
After all, Matt’s son had been looking forward to picking his mother up from the airport prior to his father telling him of the news. He added: “Of course, he didn’t believe it right away. Didn’t want to believe it.
“I think that that kind of news you just have to say multiple times so that it can be believed. And so he believed it, and we cried together then.”
Fans came out in droves in order to express their sympathy over what Matt must be going through. After all, no one should be in a position where they have to explain such a thing to their child.
And given that nobody has been held culpable, it has understandably left people feeling very angry. One person wrote: “Where is the update on the investigation? Justice needs to be served.”
This is something that Matt has to live with, and until an investigation comes to a conclusion that is satisfactory, then he will be left with many more unanswered questions. So what did you think about this?
