Macy Gray Wants the American Flag ABOLISHED and Replaced With New Redesign That Is More “Inclusive”!

Macy Gray isn’t a name that has been in the public for quite some time, but now the singer is making headlines for wanting to redesign the iconic stars and stripes.

Gray penned a Juneteenth op-ed making her case for giving the flag a facelift. Gray believes the current US flag is “tattered, dated, divisive, and incorrect”. She then likened it to the Confederate flag, especially after it became a recognizable symbol of the storming of Capitol Hill.

Of the Confederate flag, Gray says it was created as “a symbol of opposition to the abolishment of slavery,” and has recently proven “tired.”

Macy Gray Wants to Redesign the American Flag.

“We don’t see it much anymore,” she wrote. “However, on the 6th [of January], when the stormers rained on the nation’s most precious hut, waving Old Glory — the memo was received: the American flag is its replacement.”

However, it’s not only because the American flag’s reputation has been  dragged through the mud, beyond repair, by MAGA supporters that has the Grammy winner on this mission. Gray explains that the flag is incorrect as it has the wrong amount of stars. She believes it should be adjusted to fly with 52 stars, taking in account both Washington DC and Puerto Rico who, she noted, have been “lobbying for statehood” for decades.

“Both have been denied, since statehood would allow each territory’s elected officials seats in the house.” Gray continued. “Assuming D.C. reps would be African-American and Puerto Rican reps would be Hispanic, the ultimate assumption is that these elected officials would be Democratic. That alone is racist.”

    Gray is not pulling punches.

Lastly, Gray has decided the blue square and red stripes representing perseverance and valor should remain as these are still American values but that the white stripes have got to go. As Gray explains that according to The Smithsonian, the white is meant to represent purity and innocence.

“America is great. It is beautiful,” she continued in the op-ed. “Pure, it ain’t. It is broken and in pieces.”

Gray then suggested the stripes take on a slightly different hue. “What if the stripes were OFF-white?” she asked. Then, to really give ‘Old Glory’ enthusiasts some serious heart-burn, she suggests to change the (now 52) stars to reflect all the different skin-tones in the country.

“What if the stars were the colors of ALL of us — your skin tone and mine — like the melanin scale?” she suggested, believing this better represents a modern day America.

This is Gray’s re-imagination of the ole Stars and Stripes

The extremely divisive editorial ended with Gray writing, “Sixty-two years later, in 2021, we have changed and it’s time for a reset, a transformation. One that represents all states and all of us.”
