In episode 15, Jessica and Austin sit down for a special pre-Decision Day dinner. Their evening begins on a high note. Austin starts the conversation by saying, “It’s the last romantic night before the big day. This week has really flown by.” Jessica agrees with a smile. In each couple’s side interviews with the cameras, they have consistently appeared happy and hopeful about their new relationship.
Jessica then gives Austin details about a conversation with her sister. She admitted that she still feels uneasy about Austin not reciprocating her I-love-yous. “I think the only thing that we talked about that is still kind of maybe a little bit bothering me…you wouldn’t marry somebody without saying ‘I love you,’” Jessica states.

The mood suddenly changes as Austin’s body language becomes guarded and uncomfortable. Jessica tells him, “I am trying to wait for you to say it on your own timeline, but I’m ready when you want to say it.” Austin retorts that he feels pressured. “Well, I mean, when you’re asking for it, it makes me not want to.”
Jessica senses Austin’s discomfort and tries to reassure him. She repeats that she will wait for him to verbally express his love when he is ready. “Yeah, and I will,” Austin says bluntly. He was clearly over this conversation from the beginning.

Still unable to move on, Jessica reiterates her concerns to the cameras. She expresses anxiety, thinking this might be an indication that Austin could decide to end their marriage. She is in love with Austin at this point, but she could damage their relationship by continually bringing up this topic.
“It’s getting a little strange, just because Austin still has not said ‘I love you.’ And if he can’t say ‘I love you’ back, then maybe we’re not on the same page,” Jessica vents. “So maybe I have been too confident in this marriage for a while now, and maybe there are things up in the air for us.” Do you think Jessica and Austin will triumph over this argument?
