Fans accused lesbian Rebel Wilson of fat phobia after she apparently failed to include inclusive sizing in her loungewear range.
Lesbian Rebel Wilson Reacts After Being Branded Fatphobic
People began to notice that Rebel’s R&R Club range was only available in sizes XS-XL. Many people were quick to label her as “fatphobic,” despite having been for much of her career plus size.
This all changed in 2020 when she deceived to embark on a weight loss journey that saw her lose around 80 pounds. It is not surprising, then, that the comments on social media were very brutal.
One person wrote: “Former fat people love nothing more than to pretend like fat people don’t exist after they lose weight,” while another person stated: “Huge epidemic of fat girls who lost weight and now they buy into the same fatphobia that made them hate themselves when they were fat.”
Those comments clearly did not sit very well with Rebel, which is understandable. First of all, she is now embracing her new figure. And after having put in so much effort to achieve it, she should not be lambasted for being happy and promoting the way that she looks through her clothing.
Secondly, Rebel did respond to let everybody know in no uncertain terms that this new range was being experimented with. Therefore, there is a possibility that there could be larger sizes depending on the success of the current range.
In response to the criticism, Rebel remarked: “We are experimenting with this limited capsule collection of only two pieces in limited sizing.” And in order to make them feel more inclusive, Rebel began to interact with her followers over the type of stuff that they wanted to see.
In this way, she is trying to reach a broader audience that she would have otherwise been able to do. Her following comments confirmed as much: “What colours or sizes would you be interested in?”
