When professional athletes post on social media, everyone sees it and this is now the case for Las Vegas Raiders cornerback, Damon Arnette. He was a first-round pick but after his antics on social media last night, General manager, Mike Mayock gave him the boot.
NFL: What Happened This Weekend?
Arnette was clearly having a good time and messing around when he was filmed over the weekend. He is brandishing a gun in the video and threatens to kill another person. Mayock told ESPN, “This is a very painful decision. We spent significant time, effort and resources trying to help him in all aspects of his life. We cannot stand for a video of Damon with a gun, threatening to take a life.”
NFL: Raiders Release Damon Arnette
Damon played football at Ohio State and was picked in the 19th overall pick. He has only played 13 games for the Raiders and after this stunt, his career is pretty much ruined for him. Mayock also spoe about how there was definitely some concern about his behavior off the field and now it looks as if it went from bad to worse. Mayock said, “Obviously, we missed. That is 100 perent on me.”
This is not the first time that Arnette has been in trouble with the law. In October of he was involved in a hit-and-run that harmed a woman quite a bit. She has filed a lawsuit against him for the pain and suffering. He claimed to be running late for meeting with his team and that is why is left the scene of the accident.
There is also another lawsuit that Arnette has against him with a valet worker at the Aria Hotel and Casino is Las Vegas. The worker claims that Arnette spat on him and poked him in the chest during an incident where Arnette was partying at the Aria.
This information on Arnette comes shortly after the Raiders decided to cut Henry Ruggs III. He now has felony charges against him for drinking under the influence of alcohol resulting in death and reckless driving.
It looks as if this year has not been the best for the Raiders at all. With both of these players released from the team, they will have to really start shifting some players around. Raiders’ fans can only hope that the team will come together and show their fans exactly what they are made of. We will have to wait and see.
