La Reina del Sur 2 Recap 5/14/2019: Season 2, Episode 16 “Prueba positiva” Proof Positive

La Reina del Sur recap & spoilers for May 14th have the Queen (Teresa Mendoza, played by Kate del Castillo) making a deal with an enemy, a bold move against Morgana (Norma Angélica) by Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra), and Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita) shows himself for the cobardehe is. If you missed the action last night, let’s get you the La Reina del Sur recap highlights.

La Reina del Sur 2 Recap 5/14/2019: Season 2, Episode 16 “Prueba positiva” Proof Positive

La Reina del Sur spoilers: 100%

General Abdelkader Chaib (Eduardo Velasco) is back tonight, visiting the lab he brought the DNA samples to. He’s picking up the results, and the news is good. He calls Teresa to let her know after making sure with a staffer that the results are 100% reliable.

La Reina del Sur 2 spoilers: Cobarde

Epifanio proves himself to be a total coward tonight, as well as a bit of a jerk. Not that we didn’t already know that, but he adds to the pile of sins tonight. First, he stops by to see the good father with a message. Epifanio wants him to convince Carmen Martínez (Patricia Reyes Spíndola) to sign the divorce papers. He thinks a little spiritual guidance in the right direction is what’s needed, but we’re not sure el padrewill comply. He seems convinced that, should the Lord will that Epifanio is elected president, it’s because Epifanio is supposed to be a good example of a family man. Right. He couldn’t play that role if his life depended on it.

Later, he arrives (late) to his interview with Genoveva Alcalá (Kika Edgar). She’s relieved to see him, as the show’s going to start soon and she needs him to go over the statement ahead of time so any changes needed can be made. Epifanio tells her he’s not going on tonight, and blames it on the recent teaser report by Marietta Lancaster (Anna Ciocchetti). He thinks announcing their relationship right now would look like a distraction tactic. To her credit, Genoveva sees right through this and calls him out. She says there will always be some excuse, and she doesn’t want to hear it until he’s ready to show some respect by going public. Plus, you know, the poor girl’s gotta pull a show out of thin air now.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Saved by the Queen

Armed with the proof that Sofia is Cayetana Segovia’s (Luisa Gavasa) granddaughter, Teresa stops by to propose a deal. When she arrives, she finds the band of Gypsies roaming the grounds. Teresa manages to sneak past them and climb up to a window—in heels. This girl is impressive. And has impeccable timing.

See, Cayetana has been bemoaning her situation (again) and has just asked what else can go wrong when Teresa enters the room with a casual “good morning”. Cayetana can’t even, but Teresa hasn’t got the time for her drama. She gets the gist of what’s going on here, and she has that business to attend to. She presents Cayetana with the test results and offers to get rid of the Gypsies for her, if Cayetana will leave Teresa in peace. Having no choice, Cayetana agrees to the terms.

A call to her General buddy later, and Teresa has an army at her disposal. She casually lays out the situation, and tells the group they’ve got to go. Triana (Aroha Hafez) isn’t happy, and argues Juan’s (Pol Monen) case. Teresa isn’t impressed and informs Triana her son was nothing but a rapist. The situation is tense, but Teresa appeals to the Patriarch, Drago, to leave peacefully before they’re weighted down with lead at the bottom of a river. Needless to say, they comply. After a few nasty words between Cayetana and Triana, the group leaves and Teresa reminds Cayetana of her part of this deal.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: El accidente

Sofia makes her boldest move yet tonight, with some unintended consequences. She uses all the art supplies she’s been left to paint her face and clothes, as well as a huge mural filled with snakes (why??? ::shudders:: ) in the cellar. She makes some candles out of them as well, and lights them while saying a phrase she learned from a story her mother read. All set, she waits downstairs for Morgana to arrive.

And, Dios mio, she really plays it up when Morgana does. She is actually terrifying, and sounds demonic as she condemns Morgana to hell and denounces her lies. This, plus a kitty jumping at Morgana, scares her upstairs, out the door, and right into the path of a vehicle. Morgana está muerta por fin, and Sofia is clearly freaked out. She shows how well taught she’s been by not letting this stop her from running to freedom.

Later, after a confrontation with a man who thinks she’s a thief trying to steal his phone, she comes across Francesco Belmondo (Raoul Bova) and leads him on a chase through the city. This ends with her safely on a subway and away from her kidnappers. For how long, we’ll have to wait and see. During the chase, she accuses Francesco and her mother of being liars.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Bye, bye, Batman?

César “Batman” Güemes (Alejandro Calva) was sleeping off a hangover while all the action was going on, and Francesco is furious. He promises to kill Batman if the kid isn’t found.

Later, Batman, who’d been ordered to stay at the house, gets brought in for questioning by the police in connection with the accident.
