King Charles pays tribute to his mother for Mother’s Day in England. This is different in the United States. The United States commemorates Mother’s Day on the second Sunday in May each year, but the UK honors Mother’s Day on the fourth Sunday in Lent. Lent is the forty-day Christian fasting period that leads up to Easter.

King Charles Posted A Photo of Him and Queen Elizabeth

King Charles posted a poignant accolade to his Mum, Queen Elizabeth II, for Mother’s Day in the UK. The King shared It on the Royal Family’s official X account.

The King wrote next to a pink blossom pictogram,

“Wishing all Mothers, and those who are missing their mums today, a peaceful Mothering Sunday.”

Queen Elizabeth passed on September 8th, 2022, at age 96. She served the Commonwealth as Queen for 70 years, making her reign the longest a monarch in the UK had ever had

Queen Elizabeth died peacefully and was encircled by her family. Buckingham Palace publicized her passing. King Charles was devastated and emotionally distraught over the loss of his mother.

King Charles was born a Prince on November 14th, 1948. Princess Elizabeth wanted to be Charles’s hands-on mother. She wanted to raise the child herself, not the nurses.

When Elizabeth turned 25, she was made Queen Elizabeth. Elizabeth’s sense of traditional family went out the window once she became Queen. She had an impressive sense of duty as her royal engagements took precedence.

The Queen taught Charles to horseback ride and saw him each day after breakfast and tea. Royal expert Kitty Kelley says that when Charles’s sister, Princess Anne, didn’t want Elizabeth to leave them, Charles would say,

“Anne, you must not bother Mummy. She’s busy. She’s queening.”

Charles’s grandmother, the Queen Mary, and his nanny, Mabel Anderson, would give him comfort when mummy was away. Once Charles was old enough to perform royal duties, he was eager to impress his mother.

Charles Sees Elizabeth As the Shining Example He Must Follow

The relationship between mother and son differed from any of the other children, as Charles knew he would only become King after his mum died, creating a unique dynamic between them.

As time passed, their relationship improved, as the Queen saw Charles’s dedication to his role as Prince and first in the line of succession.

After a very public divorce from Princess Diana, Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles, and the Queen eventually accepted their union.

The bond between Charles and his mother developed over time. The two of them both took their devotion to their country very seriously. Charles sees Elizabeth as the shining example he must follow, as he is not trying to emulate her so much, but he wants to make her proud.

Earlier this morning, His Majesty shared a black and white photograph of himself and the Queen in 1985. Charles was lovingly kissing his mum’s hand at a polo match. The picture illustrates the love between mother and son.

While the King shared his tribute to his mother, Kate Middleton also made a Mother’s Day post with a lovely picture of her with her and Prince William’s children, Princes Georg and Louis, and Princess Charlotte.

Princess Catherine thanked the public for the “kind wishes and continued support over the last two months.” She also posted the message,

“Happy Mother’s Day from our family to yours.”
