Keller Independent School District Bans School Libraries From Having Books That Mention 'Gender Fluidity'

Keller Independent School District (KISD) recently banned all of its school libraries from having books that mention “gender fluidity” at a school board meeting.

Gender fluidity is the notion that someone may feel they are quite flexible with the gender that they choose to identify with. Therefore, for them, gender is not something that can be a fixed thing but rather it could be made up of a variety of genders or no gender at all. Not only that, but this is something that may change with time.

The parents petitioned to remove ‘pornographic’ books last year, which prompted the current president of the school’s board of trustees promising to do so. Now, that concept has expanded to include gender fluidity. There have been discussions about books on gender identity in KISD for over a year now.

According to an email sent to the school board on October 28, 2021, a parent was concerned about the reading material ‘Gender Queer, We Are The Ants, All Boys Aren’t Blue,’ ‘The Bluest Eyes, and Out of Darkness’ because it contained queer content and characters dealing with gender issues.

The email allegedly said the following: “How can I ever trust sending my kids to school, where they are encouraged to read and pick out library books,” to which Charles Randklev the president of the trustees on the district board replied: “I am … shocked, disappointed, and appalled this content has made its way into our schools. You raise some really good questions.”

And after having received such pressure from the parents, it has now led to a situation where the term has been banned. Randklev followed those previous concerns with the following statement which confirmed as much: “The State of Texas considers performing gender modification procedures upon minors to be child abuse.

“As such, the board affirms Texas law by the proposed changes to the exhibit.” So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
