Is it too late to start over? That’s what Kate Middleton might be thinking to herself as there are reports suggesting that she is trying to reach out to her sister-in-law Meghan Markle in the hopes that they can repair relations between them and their families.
Of course, the only way that will happen is if Meghan Markle is willing to accept Kate’s peace offering, despite everything that has happened between them in the past. Here’s what you need to know.
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle never had the opportunity to become the best of friends, but at the same time, they are not the worst of enemies, either.
Kate Middleton’s Regret: Can The Duchess of Cambridge Fix Relations With Meghan Markle?
The two women simply come from different backgrounds and have different approaches to the royal way of life. It sure doesn’t help that one was born and bred in Britain while the other was raised in a world completely different than anything else: Hollywood.
In her interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan didn’t mean to shoot down Kate Middleton or make her look like the royal villainess in front of the entire world. She simply wanted to correct a story that royal family failed to do on their end about who made who cry before Meghan Markle’s wedding to Prince Harry back in 2018.
While the media suggested it was the Duchess of Sussex who was acting like a bridzella, Meghan clarified to Oprah that it was in fact Kate Middleton who made her cry. But she added that Kate owned up to it, apologized and also sent her flowers.
The Duchess of Sussex also said that there were no ill feelings between the two of them and that she still feels as though Kate is a good person.
But the fact that Meghan even brought up the subject in front of an audience of 50 million people is enough for Prince William to fill his body with what some people in the British press call “incandescent rage.” The Duke of Cambridge can’t believe that Meghan would throw his wife under the bus like that.
But Kate doesn’t see it this same way. What happened between them is now in the past and that’s why she wants to start over. In fact, sources say that the Duchess of Cambridge had sent Meghan and Harry gifts for their newborn daughter Lilibet along with special hand-written notes for the baby’s proud parents.
Now, whether or not Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle can fix their relationship remains to be seen, but if there’s one thing that is clear, it’s that if they don’t, then there’s very little chance that Prince William and Prince Harry will fix their own issues.
