Catherine’s journey with cancer, largely kept private until now, has undoubtedly been a challenging one. After completing chemotherapy in September 2024, she is now navigating the complexities of recovery. “I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year,” she expressed in a heartfelt statement, acknowledging the exceptional care she received from the hospital’s dedicated team.

The Princess also extended her gratitude to those who supported her and Prince William throughout this difficult period. “My heartfelt thanks go to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we navigated everything. We couldn’t have asked for more,” she shared, emphasizing the importance of the support network that surrounded her.

This new patronage holds profound significance for Catherine. As Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, she aims to champion groundbreaking research, promote clinical excellence, and prioritize the well-being of patients and their families. “My hope is that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer,” she explained. This endeavor aligns perfectly with Catherine’s long-standing commitment to health and wellness initiatives.

While celebrating this milestone, Catherine acknowledged the ongoing nature of her recovery. “It is a relief to now be in remission, and I remain focused on recovery,” she shared. “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal.” Despite the challenges, she expressed optimism about the future, stating, “I am, however, looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”

The Princess’s announcement was accompanied by a visit to The Royal Marsden Hospital, where she met with patients and staff, offering words of encouragement and solidarity. This gesture further solidified her commitment to her new role and demonstrated her deep empathy for those currently facing their own cancer journeys.

Catherine’s story of resilience, gratitude, and unwavering support for others serves as an inspiration. Her journey, marked by both personal and professional triumphs, reinforces her position as a beloved figure within the royal family and a powerful advocate for those facing health challenges.
