Kate Middleton and Prince William have released their annual Christmas card featuring a new family photo. The snap shows them with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
The Image Is from an April 2025 Photo Shoot and Snapped by Photographer Josh Shinner
The photo is from an April 2025 photo shoot that appears to be the same one photographer Josh Shinner captured for George’s 12th birthday in July and for Louis’s 7th birthday in April.
Kate and William are both beaming as they sit with their children outdoors. William, Charlotte, and Louis are all wearing matching green knitwear.
The new image was released after the Wales family attended King Charles’s annual Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace.
Kate and Charlotte were pictured wearing the same sophisticated hairstyle. They both wore their hair half up and half down for the occasion. Their adorably identical look didn’t go unnoticed by royal fans.
In contrast, King Charles and Queen Camilla selected their 20th anniversary portrait for their Christmas card this year, which was released on December 6th.
Daily Mail correspondent, Oriona Robb, commented on the photo, saying,
“It reinforces the idea of a family moving as one, visually and symbolically, which is especially powerful in a Christmas context. There’s nothing trend-driven here; it’s timeless and deeply intentional.”
Another Daily Mail writer, Lisa Talbot, said,
“It subtly reinforces togetherness, stability, and reassurance, all without feeling staged or overly formal.”
She continued,
“It shows confidence in who they are as a family right now and sends a clear message of solidarity.”
The photo was posted on Kensington Palace’s social media with the caption,
“Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas.”
The image showed Kate, William, and their kids sitting on the grass among buttery yellow daffodils, with Kate’s arm around George and Charlotte leaning gently against her father, William.
The Wales Family Recently Made a Significant Move to Forest Lodge
The Wales family asked the same photographer, Josh Shriner, to take their Christmas card photo. Shriner had taken a picture of them for their 2023 Christmas card.
Kate, William, and their children are expected to join Charles and Camilla, along with several other members of the royal family, for Christmas at Sandringham this year.
The young family experienced a significant change a few weeks ago when they moved into their new forever home at Forest Lodge in Windsor Park.
Their unprecedented move is seen as a “fresh start” for the Prince and Princess of Wales and their kids after Kate’s cancer ordeal. Kate was thrilled to announce in September this year that she is now cancer-free.
The photo also demonstrates Kate’s love of nature. In May, Kate released a statement about how nature has helped her heal and recover from cancer:
“Over the past year, nature has been my sanctuary.”
She continued,
“The natural world’s capacity to inspire us, to nurture us, to help us heal and grow, is boundless and has been understood for generations.”
Kate added,
“I find it very spiritual and very intense emotional reconnection, I suppose, these environments.”
She concluded,
“Not everyone has the same relationship perhaps with nature, but it is so, therefore meaningful for me as a place to balance and find a sort of sense of peace and reconnection in what is otherwise a hectic world.”
