Kanye West’s decision to relocate to Wyoming in the aftermath of his divorce was heavily based on his desire to focus on his music.
Why Did Kanye West Move To Wyoming
The rapper and his soon to be ex-wife Kim Kardashian decided to part ways after their relationship no longer became tenable after a series of high profile outbursts by Kanye. Such comments included ‘Slavery was a choice,’ as well as expressing concern over the potential abortion of his daughter North. Despite Kanye’s commitment to his kids, he needed to separate himself from where Kim was living.
A source said: “Kanye became obsessed with starting an artists’ getaway in Wyoming where he could focus on his music, fashion and art. Kanye loves his kids, and they come to visit, but Kanye felt he couldn’t create as well in L.A.” Not only was it a source of inspiration for his music, but Wyoming also offered Kanye the chance to stay out of the limelight.
The star has always found it difficult to keep his mental health intact ever since his public profile rose since his marriage to Kim. He was very vocal about how he became addicted to opioids and how Kim had attempted to get him locked up in a mental institution. This led to reports that the rapper was suffering from bipolar. And yet, in Wyoming, Kanye can be himself.
The source added: “Wyoming is also a great place for Kanye’s mental health.” This was one of the reasons why the couple decided to split. Kim, in contrast, was focusing on doing other reality TV projects after Keeping up with the Kardashians. Kanye had hoped that after the show’s conclusion, the family could move to Wyoming.
However, with the Kardashians set to have a reunion show based on The Real Housewives style with Andy Cohen, they were simply at odds. The source continued: “Kanye wanted the family to move to Wyoming full-time. It’s where he sees this direction of his life going. Kim just doesn’t see their lives full-time in Wyoming.”
Time will tell whether Kanye made the right decision to move out there, but if it has the impact of improving his relationship with Kim and the kids, then it certainly will have worked.
