The judge who presided over Casey Anthony’s murder trial believes that the prosecution’s case was solid enough to secure a conviction, but he is commending her attorneys for their approach. Following the death of Casey’s 2-year-old daughter Caylee, TMZ asked Judge Belvin Perry Jr., if he was surprised the jury cleared Casey of murder, manslaughter, and child abuse. Casey was only found to have lied to the police.
Perry Jr. claims he believed the prosecution had provided the jury with sufficient evidence to convict Casey; however, he admits he wasn’t surprised when they found her innocent because he knows there are no guarantees in criminal trials.
Judge Who Presided Over Casey Anthony’s Murder Trial Believes Prosecutors Made Strong Case To Win A Conviction
Many of the claims made by Casey in a recent Peacock documentary are the same “crap” that she floated during the trial, according to Judge Perry Jr., who has since retired from the bench. She was, of course, exonerated, but Perry claims that doesn’t mean the jury believed what Casey had to say at the time.
He instead praises Jose Baez and Cheney Mason, her defense attorneys, who “littered that case with as much reasonable doubt as they possibly could.” In an upcoming Peacock documentary, Casey—who did not testify during the trial—is providing her version of what happened. However, the former judge informed us that both the new and the old claims she is making have numerous flaws. Perry Jr. continues to believe that this is the way justice operates in our system despite his personal views on the trial.
This could have completely changed the case and Casey Anthony could be sitting in jail right now for her ‘alleged’ murder of her daughter, Caylee.
What do you think? Did the jury make a mistake with Casey Anthony and should she be in jail right now instead of doing a documentary on Peacock? Let us know in the comments below.
