This sure would be a good time to move on already, right? Apparently, Johnny Depp told a group of fans at one of his UK concerts this past week that he was in “sock” that he won his defamation suit against Amber Heard. Here’s what you need to know.
According to reports, one video shows Depp laughing as dozens of admirers congratulated him on this week’s win as he emerged from his friend Jeff Beck’s concert in Newcastle. “Thank you, I’m still in shock a little,” Depp revealed to one celebratory fan.

Following the verdict on Wednesday the actor was awarded compensatory damages of $10 million and a further $5 million in punitive damages. In a separate verdict, Heard was awarded $2 million in damages after her counterclaim against Depp over comments made by his lawyer Adam Waldman, who allegedly referred to her abuse claims as a “hoax”, was found to be defamatory.
Following the verdict, the actress said she was “heartbroken” but “even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women.” Heard said the verdict “sets back the clock” and added that Mr Depp’s attorneys had succeeded in getting jury members to “overlook” freedom of speech.
“I’m sad I lost this case. But I am sadder still that I seem to have lost a right I thought I had as an American – to speak freely and openly,” she said, in a statement shared on social media.
Depp sued the Aquaman star for $50 million over the piece, titled: “I spoke up against sexual violence – and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change.” While the article did not mention the actor by name, his lawyers said it falsely implied he physically and sexually abused Heard while they were together. Heard countersued for $100m over the Washington Post article.
During the trial, Heard testified about more than a dozen episodes of physical and sexual assault that she said Depp inflicted on her. Depp has denied ever hurting Heard and pointed to several instances of her abusing him. Depp’s statement after the ruling read: “From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome. Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me. I feel at peace knowing I have finally accomplished that.”
