Chuck Palahniuk returned to the Joe Rogan Experience this week for another fantastic episode. Palahniuk is famous for some of his shocking writings and the very popular ‘Fight Club’ book that was turned into an acclaimed film.
He’s made a living from making people uncomfortable and he explains to Joe Rogan why he enjoys it so much, and I think it’s something we can all agree with.
“I enjoy them (uncomfortable moments) because they prove I’m not the only one. I’m not the only one that’s had these moments of complete humiliation or complete powerlessness.”
Joe Rogan Experience: ‘Fight Club’ Writer Chuck Palahniuk Explains Why He Enjoys Making People Uncomfortable
Palahniuk continued into several stories backing up his claims and explaining how we’ve all had these moments that stick out to us more than anything, and still make us uncomfortable or cringe years later. His stories are dark, and if you’re interested in hearing them, you can watch the clip above or check out the full episode for free on Spotify.
Some viewers commented, “I’ve always enjoyed uncomfortable moments, after loathing them through childhood. It makes you reflect on why you are uncomfortable, and what that means, and usually it means that there is a truth you don’t want to admit exists, or is too hard for you to face down. Only by embracing these moments can we truly learn what it is to be human, and move forward.” and “The previous chuck interview was my all time favorite JRE episode. Glad he’s back!”
Palahniuk’s first episode with Rogan was something illuminating and powerful and he even had Joe telling humiliating stories about his daughters! Chuck is a renowned story teller and he proves it yet again.
