    Jimmy Kimmel has faced harsh criticism online because many people feel that a skit he and Will Arnett did as presenters stole Quinta Brunson’s thunder.

    At the Emmy Awards on Monday night, Arnett and Kimmel gave the award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. As he explained that Kimmel had consumed too many margaritas backstage, Arnett dragged a “passed out” Kimmel onto the stage and laid him out next to the microphone stand. Even after Brunson jokingly yelled, “Jimmy, wake up. I won,” after Arnett announced her name as the winner and she took the stage, Kimmel kept up the joke.

    As Brunson gave her speech, Jimmy sat extremely close to her, making it nearly impossible for the show’s producers to get a picture of her without him in it.

    Twitter went insane about the skit, saying that Kimmel is an insufferable white man and that he has white male privilege. “Jimmy Kimmel owes Quinta an apology but the messed up part is every image of her accepting her award has his ass in it. White men really are insufferable,” one person wrote. Another said, “White male privilege is laying on the ground & expecting a Black woman to just step around you while she accepts her hard-earned award.“However, even with all the Twitter warriors out in full force, Brunson didn’t seem to mind telling reporters after the show, “I think in that moment, I was just really happy that it was Jimmy up there … I don’t know, tomorrow maybe I’ll be mad at him. I’m gonna be on his show on Wednesday, so I might punch him in the face. I don’t know. We’ll see what happens.”
