Jimmy Kimmel was happier than ever, as he celebrated his son Billy’s birthday as he turned five.
Jimmy Kimmel Celebrates His Son Billy’s Fifth Birthday Following His Heart Defect Struggles
Billy, for his part, has been through a lot in his life despite being at such a young age. He was born with a heart defect which then resulted in him having to undergo heart surgery when he was just 3 days old.
It was clearly touch and go, as no one knew what the outcome could have been. But thankfully for everyone involved, the operation turned out to be a success. And now Billy has not looked back since.
In a post to his fans on Instagram, Jimmy shared a picture of Billy looking at a small piece of cake with some candles. Billy has a huge smile on his face and could not be any happier. The post was captioned by the following comments: “Happy 5th birthday to our little nut.
“We are eternally grateful to the brilliant doctors and nurses at @ChildrensLA & @CedarsSinai for saving Billy’s life and to those of you whose donations, prayers and positive thoughts meant everything. Please support families who need medical care.”
With that being said, Jimmy has become an advocate in supporting organizations that are engaged in medical care. This has included supporting projects on tackling aids, as well as trying to combat autism. And after understanding the pain that a parent can experience in seeing their child suffer, Jimmy is fully aware that it is a tough task.
In the immediate aftermath of Billy’s surgery, Jimmy did not hold back on how hard it was for him. He said: “It was the longest three hours of my life, but it was a success.” The fans on social media were happy to see Jimmy and Billy doing well.
