During the course of her performance with Justin Timberlake, a series of events led to the eventual action of Janet’s nipple been exposed live on stage.

And in the aftermath of the incident, it is safe to say that Janet career took a huge hit which resulted in her moving away from mainstream music for sometime.

But given that she is now looking to make a comeback with an album set to be released in 2022,  she wanted to let her fans know exactly how she managed to overcome such a difficult ordeal.

In the New York Times documentary entitled ‘Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson,’ Janet said: “What’s really important is going back to having that foundation.

“Not just family, but God. That’s what really pulled me through. It’s tough for me to talk about that time.” It was understandable that Janet might find it hard to express her feelings over this.

First of all,  her subsequent album ‘Damita’ flopped in the aftermath of the incident as it was clear that the public no longer resonated with her.

In addition, several scathing headlines began to emerge which also coincided with her late brother Michael Jackson’s alleged child sexual abuse allegations. Secondly, in any event, she had seen Justin’s career skyrocketed from strength to strength.

As such, it was very difficult to see another musician being so successful while she had to regroup.  And when it reached a Tipping Point given that Justin was invited back to perform at the Super Bowl in 2018.

But now she has a chance to give her side of the story. In a prior interview with Allure, Janet remarked: “Whether I want to be part of that conversation or not, I am part of that conversation. I think it’s important. Not just for me, but for women. So, I think it’s important that conversation has been had. You know what I mean? And things have changed obviously for the better.”

With Janet having some new music coming out, this is the perfect opportunity to put this behind her.
