Please don’t let it be so. Taylor Swift‘s fans are speculating that the singer might perform as this year’s Super Bowl halftime act after the NFL appeared to drop a major hint on Thursday night. The NFL announced on Thursday night that Apple Music will finally replace Pepsi as the Big Game’s new sponsor, following the soft drink company’s May withdrawal from the league and its long-standing partnership.
Swift fans claim that the league didn’t need to mention a potential halftime performer for Super Bowl LVII in its announcement because the timing of the release said it all. Strangely, the league announced the news at midnight, which has long been connected to Swift. Since 2020, she has released two albums that were also released at that time, and hundreds of times throughout those albums the word “midnight” has been sung.
Is TAYLOR SWIFT Performing The Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show?
Next month, Swift will also release a new album called “Midnights.” Taylor has never performed on a Super Bowl show (probably for good reason); many people assumed she wouldn’t accept the offer because she was committed to a sponsorship agreement with Coca-Cola, Pepsi’s main rival.
But now that Apple Music is included, it appears that Swift will be able to sing “Shake It Off” in front of millions of people without incident on February 12 during the commercial break of the Super Bowl. The NFL has not yet confirmed or denied the rumors.
I can’t imagine this will would sit well with NFL fans (like me). We’re just not thrilled about another pop singer being given that stage during football. Last year we finally got a good show with Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg, but this would seem like a complete 180 and doesn’t feel like they are listening to the fans. We all tuned in for last year, I just don’t see that many people tuning in for a Taylor Swift concert at halftime.
