Netflix may drop Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. At a Variety Power of Women event, Meghan exclaimed that she and her husband were working on several projects.
No Word On Harry and Meghan’s “Exciting New Projects”
However, there is no word on these supposed “exciting new projects” that the Sussexes have planned. There is no mention of what they are or if they exist.
One has to wonder why there has been no promotion for them or even an explanation beyond, “Things that make people feel- I was going to say good, but it’s more than that, things that make people feel something, right?”
Right. Meghan also said she couldn’t wait until they announced their upcoming projects. She also made it a point of exclaiming,
“My husband is loving it too, which is really fun.”
She said that she hoped to make content that made people feel a “sense of community.” Meghan was nothing if not extremely vague.
Meghan did say that they were working on a movie version of Carley Fortune’s romance novel, “Meet Me at the Lake.”
On Harry and Meghan’s shiny new site, there is no mention of Netflix in the section for Archewell Productions. Meghan was at this event in November of last year. Surely, we would have heard by now what these projects are.
The Sussexes signed with Netflix in September 2020. They had a hit with the docuseries “Harry and Meghan,” It was Netflix’s highest-viewed documentary ever, which is impressive. But nothing reached that level since.
Heart of Invictus was a worthwhile effort. The docuseries chronicled wounded, injured, or ill military veterans competing at the Invictus Games. It presents the most honorable work that Harry does.
It’s not trashing the royal family or capitalizing on them, which is quite the departure for Harry. However, it is not that big of a hit.
Beyond the Docuseries “Harry and Meghan,” There Isn’t Much Worth Mentioning
Beyond that, there isn’t much Harry and Meghan have done worth mentioning. They initially said that parenting was their most challenging and most important job and that family programming was important to them.
The Duke and Duchess inked a multi-year deal with Netflix that is set to end in 2025. We haven’t seen anything new recently.
Perhaps Netflix is thinking about cutting the couple loose as Spotify did. Harry and Meghan now have a much more undesirable reputation that could hinder the streaming platform should they back projects that don’t sell.
When Harry and Meghan were in Jamicia for the Bob Marley movie ” One Love ” premiere, they were seen hobnobbing with Brian Robbins, the president and CEO of Paramount Pictures.
That led everyone to question if Harry and Meghan were trying to score a deal with another streaming giant, as their agreement with Netflix was nearing the end.
Sources close to Netflix say that the Netflix deal is finished. The whole agreement surrounded them getting “Harry and Meghan” on their platform.
It is bad news for Harry and Meghan, who seem so hopeful and excited that they have many new projects in the works. Rumors are swirling that Harry and Meghan are frantically trying to find a new deal.
