Meghan Markle appears to be copying platitudes from best-selling self-help author Brene Brown. She’s a glorified self-help guru to a select group of celebrities and a close personal friend of Oprah’s. Brown has also appeared on Meghan’s podcast. Archetypes and the two have also become close—maybe too close.
Meghan Markle Spoke At A Women And Power Summit In Columbia
Meghan is desperate to run in these circles of “strong, powerful women,” as she’s taken obvious inspiration from Brown. She recently spoke at a Godmother’s bookstore at Oprah’s book club session. She’s taken to spouting the same languages and phrases used by the author. Is she trying to be the next great self-help author?
Why not? Her American Riviera Orchard lifestyle brand has suffered so many setbacks that it may have failed before it got off the ground.
During Prince Harry and Meghan’s tour in Columbia last month, the Duchess gave a speech at the Afro-Descendant Women and Power: Voices of Equity summit in which she talked about “life lessons.”
Meghan remarked that she’s in her “chapter of joy” and expressed immense “gratitude.” Meghan repeatedly used the expression “chapter of joy.” Brene has often said almost the exact same thing.
Brown wrote on Oprah’s website,
“I believe joy is a spiritual practice we have to work at. That means appreciating everyday moments: walking with my husband and fishing with my kids on the Gulf Coast. It means not living in fear of what I could lose but softening into the moments I have.”
Many have noted the similarities between Brown’s inspirational speeches and what Meghan has recently said. She told the panel she was a part of in Columbia,
“From my standpoint, how I will continue to express this, both through our foundation and through being able to move through the world, I suppose, is just looking at his as my ‘chapter of joy.”
Meghan Repeatedly Used The Phrase “Chapter Of Joy”
“The more that you are able to look at your life and really, truly recognize that if you’re going to be grateful for your life, you have to be grateful for all aspects of it. The parts where opportunities of growth and may have felt very difficult as well as the parts that feel inspiring, joyful, and full.”
In her closing statement, Meghan once again mentioned her “chapter of joy ” and talked about living her life with a “joyful spirit.”
At the bookstore, Meghan discussed similar topics. It is not known exactly what she said, but it’s thought it was similar to her pointless diatribe in Columbia.
Godmothers is co-owned by Jennifer Rudolph Walsh. Jennifer was previously WME’s head of Worldwide Literary, as well as a speaker and a conference division.
The store is in Santa Barbara, California, in the Summerland community. Walsh co-founded Godmothers with Victoria Jackson, a cosmetics entrepreneur.
Walsh has represented Oprah and Brene as clients. Meghan joined the WME tribe last year in an attempt to combat negative publicity after she and Harry blatantly attacked the royal family,
Harry and Meghan have praised Brene as someone who “helps people see things more clearly.” Meghan appears to want to follow in her footsteps as she’s trying her hand at “motivational speaking.”
