Home Office police protection was removed for Prince Harry, and he demanded the name of the government official who refused security for him, his wife Meghan Markle, and his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Harry Sent a Letter Asking Who Would Put Him in This Position
The Duke of Sussex was incessant in his insistence on knowing who was responsible. He apparently sent a letter to Sir Mark on February 10th, asking who would put him in.
“a position that no one was willing to put my mother in 23 years ago.”
He continued,
“And yet today, with greater risk, with additional layers of racism and extremism, someone is comfortable taking accountability for what could happen. I would like the name of the person who is willing to take accountability for this choice, please.”
Harry is not yet grasping that he has been repeatedly denied public-funded security by the UK government. He doesn’t seem to understand why the rules won’t be bent to accommodate him.
Essentially, he compares the dangers that he and his family will be in without security as worse than his mother, Princess Diana, constantly being chased by the paparazzi.
Prince Harry is stomping his feet and putting his hands on his hips, posturing like he can do something about it. He feels like he is entitled to have this.
Even though Queen Elizabeth had wanted Harry’s family to continue to have security, she also recognized that the UK government would ultimately determine the matter.
Once a member of the royal family steps down from their duties, they are no longer entitled to security. Harry is now facing outstanding legal bills to pay back the taxpayers since he could not prove that he was treated unfairly.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Could Pay for Their Security
It may not be fair to completely disregard Harry’s desire to protect his family. He is apprehensive after what happened to his mom. However, the difference is that Harry and Meghan could fork out their money to pay for security.
No matter how down on their luck the couple acts, they still have their own money from their various projects.
If Harry and Meghan feel they are running short on cash, maybe they need to look at their lavish lifestyle.
The couple jet-setting to Beyonce and Katy Perry concerts and the constant purchasing of high-end designer clothes do not exactly paint the picture of people desperately needing money. However, Harry is outraged that he is being denied what he feels is his right to have.
The duke’s demands mean nothing in light of the decision being made the minute he left the UK with Meghan for California.
Harry claims that he was singled out and treated less favorably than others. Judge Peter Lane, the judge in the High Court case, slammed Harry, his legal team, and his claims.
In the end, the court ruled against Harry’s plea for public-funded security despite a desperate attempt to change his fate.
The duke intends to appeal this decision. Good luck, Harry, seeing what little love he received from the court, coupled with the fact that the royal family prides itself on its rules.
