For those who love watching the classic Home Alone and Home Alone 2 movies every holiday season, we’ve got good news for you. There’s a new report that says the Home Alone reboot is “nearly finished” and will be coming to Disney + sooner rather than later. Here’s what you need to know.
According to reports, Kenan Thompson is among the cast of the upcoming reboot and revealed recently that post-production on the movie is almost complete.
Kenan is said to be playing one of the burglars in the film about a duo of crooks, Harry and Marv, whose attempts to break into a suburban house are foiled by a resourceful little boy, who will be played by Jojo Rabbit star Archie Yates in the new movie.

He told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, “It was a long shoot. It started in Canada and got shut down and then came back around because of the pandemic and stuff so it’s been very splotchy, I guess, as far as trying to get it done is concerned. But I think they’re getting very close to finishing it.”
The actor added that he recently completed audio re-recording for his character which is “usually one of the last steps” in the production process – which means that it’s quite likely the movie is nearing completion.
The movie will have a new take on the 1990 Macauley Culkin slapstick classic should be on screens for Christmas. SNL star Chris Parnell is also expected to join Kenan Thompson as the criminal not so masterminds, originally played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern.
Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney will play the parents and comedian Ally Maki also has a role in the movie which will be directed by Dirty Grandpa director Dan Mazer.
So far Disney + has not made any comments as to when the new movie will be released on its platform. We will definitely update you with all of the latest details as they come in.
