Well, at least this is one less thing everyone has to worry about, right? There’s a new report that suggests Meghan Markle has scrapped her plans to run for the President of the United States. And while she might have not made any comments about the matter herself, sources say that she won’t be running for the highest office of the land because of all the “red tape” involved in the process. Here’s what you need to know.
Royally Obsessed podcast hosts Roberto Fiorito and Rachel Bowie believe that both Meghan and her husband Prince Harry could find that all of the red tape associated with a presidential run might get in the way of their projects and media appearances. Ms Bowie asked her co-host: “Would they ever run for office? Do you think so, I know this always comes up.”

“I don’t think so,” replied Ms Fiorito. “I think that would be like a wasted use. “Because they would have so much red tape all the time for the things they could do.
“It would be like…I don’t think it would be,” she continued. “But I don’t know, I mean Vanity Fair has a whole article about it from the end of 2020. There is a lot of chatter about it always.”
The speculation comes after a report last month that said both Meghan and her husband Prince Harry had a secret meeting with California Gov. Gavin Newsom back late last year. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a meeting via video link with Gavin Newsom prior to the 2020 U.S. Presidential election.
This would have put the royal couple in breach with their post-Megxit agreement with the queen, as it is against royal protocol for any member of the monarchy to engage in politics whatsoever.
Several reports said that Meghan and Harry chatted during a one-hour-long video conference call with Newsom – once tipped to be a White House frontrunner – on October 19 last year. But, it’s unknown what Harry and Meghan discussed with Newsom during the meeting, which came as Newsom was in the midst of deciding who would fill Vice President Kamala Harris’ spot in the U.S. Senate.
