Life is good when you are a British prince, until it’s not. There’s a new report that suggests Prince Andrew might get a pretty penny – actually make that a pound – in compensation if he’s forced out of his home. He currently lives in the Royal Lodge along with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. Here’s what you need to know.
According to The Sun, documents state that the Duke of York is entitled of up to $9.5 million, should he be pushed out of his home. He apparently paid more than $1 million for a 75-year lease on the mansion back in 2003. That said, the lodge is reportedly worth around £30 million. Andrew had a £7.5 million refurbishment on the home.
Here’s How Much Prince Andrew Could Get In Compensation If He Leaves The Royal Lodge
As many royal fans know by now, Prince Andrew has managed to avoid royal embarrassment by settling for millions with his accuser Virginia Giuffre. The sum of the settlement has not been disclosed according to court documents but some reports say that it is estimated to be about $16 million dollars.
“Prince Andrew intends to make a substantial donation to Ms. Giuffre’s charity in support of victims’ rights. Prince Andrew has never intended to malign Ms. Giuffre’s character, and he accepts that she has suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks,” the letter states.
The letter also says the duke would make a “substantial donation to Ms Giuffre’s charity in support of victims’ rights.”
The duke also pledged to “demonstrate his regret for his association” with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein by supporting the “fight against the evils of sex trafficking, and by supporting its victims.”
