For those of us who didn’t get to win the Hamilton Lottery back in 2016 and see the live show with the original cast, July 3rd, 2020 is a day that we have been waiting for with baited breath. Some of us wanted to go see this musical so bad with its original cast and with Lin Manuel Miranda at the helm, but there were only so many slots available in 2016 and sadly that was the year the original cast departed Broadway. However, mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of Disney+ and the fact that someone in the higher ups at Disney have smiled upon us and have decided to release the musical in its entirety on the platform.

    Hamilton premieres on Disney+!

As of right now, it’s just the musical that we know about that’s being released. But knowing Disney, there may just be some behind the scenes extra content that all of us Hamilton fans will undoubtedly devour. I can’t wait because we have gotten a taste of the experience on youtube (Hey, no judgement!) and from the Tony Awards performance, and from that one PBS special that we all watched because it was awesome, but unless we went and saw it in the theatre, none of us truly know the real awesomeness of it until we see it up close and personal, with all the good camera angles. Again, no judgement because we all enjoyed the not-so-good camera angles that we caught elsewhere. You know who you are.

What I personally can’t wait for is my favorite number, the Battle of Yorktown. We’ll actually get to see that as it was intended to be seen. (Although don’t get me wrong, the Tony Awards performance is still top tier, in my opinion.) We’ll also get to see the Schuyler sisters (and Peggy!) “work” for all their worth, and Eliza’s iconic number “Burn”. This is going to be awesome and I’m looking forward to every minute of this experience. Stay tuned!!!
