aA man living in the United States illegally fled from a deadly car accident where a 5-year-old girl was killed Saturday. Ernesto Lopez Morales, 32, a Guatemalan citizen was speeding in a black Chevrolet Suburban with no headlights on when he collided into the rear of a 2016 Hyundai Elantra.
The Elantra was driven by a woman with her daughter in the backseat and pushed over 600 feet before the cars stopped. First responders arrived at the scene and found the young girl dead. The mother was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Sheriff Grady Judd told Tampa Bay’s WTVT-TV,
“A little 5-year-old beautiful baby was crushed to death. Had he been in his home country last Saturday night like he should have been, our 5-year-old beautiful little girl would have been alive.”

Witnesses say they saw Morales run from the scene of the crash on foot. He was later found at his home. He admitted to investigators that he drank six 32-ounce beers and left to buy more. He ran from the scene because he didn’t have insurance or a driver’s license.
Morales was well over the legal limit of alcohol and has been charged with driving under the influence, manslaughter, leaving the scene of a crash involving a death, DUI property damage, and several other offenses. He is being held on $22,500 bond.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have initiated a hold on him, authorities said.
“This is the second person in about a week that’s been killed by someone illegally in this country, Judd said. “It’s a problem.”
However, to many people living in the U.S., illegal immigrants don’t seem to be an issue to them. Stories like these continue to pile up sooner or later something will need to be done.
