‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal that fans are praising Finola Hughes, who plays Anna Devane, for her recent scenes playing a woman who has been imprisoned, tortured, and pushed past her limit.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Anna Has Been Rocked to Her Core by Psychological Torture
The storyline has admittedly been very weird, but no matter what material Hughes is given, she always delivers. Anna Devane, bada** former super spy and double agent, has been rocked to her core.
The GH scenes in which Anna is forced into a French mental facility ring true to someone who is being held somewhere against her will, and everyone believes she’s lost her mind.
Not to mention, the rather graphic depiction of Anna being shot up with some mystery drug that we know she likely doesn’t need.
We think Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) may really be alive, and that’s exactly who Anna saw in the dark and creepy catacombs of Wyndemere.
It’s either that or she’s being gaslighted to the point of mental deterioration. Either way, she doesn’t belong where she is, and we suspect that those in charge of her care at the clinic are in on it.
Anna is usually in full control. The invincible, strong-willed, no-nonsense woman has been replaced by someone we barely recognize.
Hughes has played her role as equal parts desperate, frantic, and unhinged, and she’s done a beautiful job. Anna is rightfully terrified.
Yet, it must be torture for her. Anna is the only one who understands the horror that has been done to her.
She’s been held hostage and terrorized since around Thanksgiving. That’s a long time. Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) and Director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) have been gaslighting her at Wyndemere.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Britt and Nathan Are Alive, Why Not Faison, Too?
We think it’s highly probable that, after Anna tried to alert someone to her situation and warned about Faison, they brought her to this facility to shut her up.
Whatever this cold fusion project is, it’s not hard to imagine that Faison would be involved. Stranger things have happened on GH.
Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) turned up alive at the Five Poppies in Croatia. She’s part of Faison’s research, and she’s doing it against her will.
Nathan West (Ryan Paevy) turned up alive after being shot by Faison with no memory or plausible explanation of where he’s been for the past seven years.
What Britt and Nathan have in common is that they are both Faison’s children, and everyone thought they were dead. What are the odds?
It seems like the people in this family are somehow untouchable and immortal. It’s either because of their value to Faison and the villains spearheading this project, or a near-impossible miracle that they survived.
While Nathan isn’t actively in their orbit, he’s still Faison’s son. Finola Hughes has been knocking it out of the park, playing up her fear in having to contend with complex psychological threats.
Again, my money here is on the formidable Anna Devane. If she says that Faison is alive, I believe her. Braedyn Bruner, who plays Anna’s granddaughter, Emma Scorpio Drake, has also been phenomenal in her scenes with Hughes.
Anna’s perfect balance of strength and vulnerability makes Hughes’ portrayal raw and believable. In fact, it may be the only believable part of this storyline.
