‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers have been waiting for an unexpected turn, and it looks like we could get it as Ava Jerome (Maura West) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) are growing closer by the day.
Granted, it’s more of a relationship of convenience at the moment since Sonny has a very small circle of friends he can count on and Ava’s not only there but also understands the world as a former part of the Jerome crime family.
This, of course, leads to all sorts of speculation as to what could come from Ava inheriting the Jerome crime family to resurrecting it and even plotting to take over Sonny’s after she dethrones him.
But instead of that, she could become the power behind the throne.
It’s something Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) wanted to wield but couldn’t as she wasn’t a part of the business, and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) couldn’t and didn’t want to because it’s not her thing.
But Ava? She can and does want to wield that power again. At least, ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers thinks so.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – It gives her protection
Ava is someone not to be trifled with, yet somehow she continues to draw people to her that do just that from Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) to Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) to Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth).
But Sonny is a different sort from them. He stands out and isn’t into playing games. Plus, he has the man power to keep her safe if anyone comes sniffing around again.
It’s a good level of security as well as a life she knows well and can handle herself in, and more than not she won’t be a liability for Sonny to contend with.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – What about Nina?
Of course, there’s the issue with her being Nina’s best friend, and if Nina suspects Ava and Sonny are getting closer, she’s not going to be too happy about it.
Ava will try to allay her fears, but usually where there’s smoke there’s fire, and since Sonny can bring Ava to his meetings with other family heads like Selina Wu (Lydia Look), she’ll give him the bonus of knowledge and an extra pair of eyes.
And she’s good in a fight if it comes to that.
Nina won’t give up and we could be seeing he dissolving of their friendship over the next few weeks, and that’s going to be rough for Nina to accept.
It’ll push her further into Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart)’s arms and they could become a power couple again, but the real lime light will shine on Sonny and Ava, and we’re excited to see what comes from that.
