French President Emmanuel Macron was slapped in the face on video during an official visit to the southeast of France. In the video that’s circulating the internet, Macron walks up to a group of people behind a barrier when a man in a green t-shirt reaches across and slaps the president across the face.
Officers quickly pulled the president away and moved in on the barrier. According to a French media report, two men have been arrested following the incident.

The identity and motive of the man are still unclear, though the local prefecture said he and another person were being questioned.
The video has already been retweeted over 9,000 times and comments continue to pour in.
President Macron is on a tour of France and just visited a hotel school in Tain-l’Hermitage. His visit was set to continue today, with a trip to a vocational institute.
His visit comes during a major step for French bars and restaurants which are now able to open again to indoor customers after seven months of closures. Their curfews are also being pushed from 9 PM to 11 PM.
“Tomorrow, a new step will be taken,” Mr Macron tweeted after his visit to the hotel school. “Life will resume in all our territories!”
