Former Miss Ukraine model Veronika Didusenko has given her take on what needs to be done to prevent the country’s war with Russia.

The current conflict has devastated the country, with both infrastructure being destroyed in major cities, as well as people having died or fled to other countries as a result.
Unless something is done, there is a clear danger that innocent children could also suffer as a result. And this is something that Veronika wanted to highlight. After having seen the destruction in Ukraine, she arrived in Los Angeles to relay exactly how bad things were.
In an official statement, she said: “Right now, millions of Ukrainian children and their mothers are trembling at every sound in the subway stations and bomb shelters. Even more heartbreaking that women are giving birth in such conditions in these shelters.”
In order to bring this to an end, she urged United States President Joe Biden to take immediate action. And for Veronica, she felt that there had to be a relaxation of visa rules that would allow Ukrainian people to enter the US.
This included support for Humanitarian Parole for Ukrainians that would allow refugees to come to the country without the need to apply for an actual visa. She added: “This approach is necessary and urgent because the visa process could take many months.”
Secondly, in line with the reasoning that the current Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been calling for, Veronica also was of the view that there should be a no-fly zone over Ukraine. This would have the impact of preventing Russian planes from firing missiles from above.
The response on social media was understandably one of concern. Veronica’s story was just one of many which demonstrated the mass suffering that the Ukrainian people were being subjected to. One person wrote: “This is awful. My heart.”
Veronica has clearly been through a lot, but by speaking out and using her platform, her words could have the impact of influencing certain policy makers. Time will tell what happens in that regard. So there you have it folks.
