Star running back Christian McCaffrey was recently traded from the Carolina Panthers to the San Francisco 49ers and there is already a lot of talk happening as he scored three touchdowns in his first game with the new club. According to Mike Martz, who formerly coached Marshall Faulk, he claims the new 49ers star is so outstanding that he now expects SF to win the NFC West and that he looks EXACTLY like the Rams Hall of Famer.
Just one day after McCaffrey’s historic performance against Los Angeles, the former head coach of Faulk’s St. Louis Rams broke it all down for us, and it’s safe to say he was blown away by what he saw. When he saw the 26-year-old shred up the Rams for three touchdowns — one running, one passing, and one receiving — Martz told us he couldn’t help but notice echoes of Faulk. Martz believes the Niners will be the club to defeat in their division moving forward because of the tailback.
Former Head Coach Mike Martz Compares Christian McCaffrey To The Great Marshall Faulk
Martz said that he’s not Marshall, but he’s damn close, “He’s the closest thing that I’ve seen to Marshall for quite some time. He’s not Marshall, but he has those Marshall-esque type things within him.” McCaffrey was acquired by the Niners from Carolina for a plethora of draft picks, and in his first two games, he hasn’t done anything but perform. And Martz claims that once Deebo Samuel returns from injury, only good things can be said for the running back and his new squad.
“What you could do with them is unlimited,” Martz remarked. Regarding his former squad, Mike informs us that the Rams are in serious peril, especially now that they failed to acquire McCaffrey themselves.
It looks like McCaffrey is going to get a fresh start in his career in California and he’s already looking like a future Hall of Famer.
