Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series Winner: The Young and The Restless

Great news Y&R fans, it was just announced that the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series Winner is The Young and The Restless. This should come as no surprise as the hit CBS daytime show is the #1 rated soap on TV and has been for a while. Many fans have been vocal over the past year over the direction the show was taking. Many new faces were coming to Genoa City while the old timers, the familiar faces were seemingly losing a massive war of attrition. As many fans will recall, there’s been a change at the helm as ex-head writer Mal Young was recently fired and Josh Griffith retook the remain behind the creative direction. Of course Mal Young was there to take home the award, but he won’t there next year.

Fans have been much happier recently with the direction the show is heading towards. We know that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) is just about to make his much-anticipated return as Victor Newman brings him. Other faces such as Eileen Davidson have also returned to the show. What’s interesting in all of this is that Y&R won the award even when the writing was questionable, even though most signs point to it being much improved today. So if Y&R won this on the back of lesser writing then we here at Daily Soap Dish make a bold claim for the 2020 Daytime Emmy Awards: The Young and the Restless will repeat as winners!

    B. Novak is and has always been a soap opera lover. He was first introduced to the world of soaps when his mom used to watch them when he was a kid in French. Yes, in French! That's how he first discovered the wickedly delicious beauty of the sinuous storylines that make the soap opera world. He had to take a break for some time due to other life commitments but he's back to watching Soap Operas and looks forward to writing about them each and every day.
