El Secreto de Selena spoilers for Sunday, October 27th reveal that the tide is turning a bit in the trial of Yolanda Saldivar, María Celeste Arrarás (Sofía Lama) continues her book, and an incident has Suzette Quintanilla (Bárbara González) putting the pressure on Selena Quintanilla (Maya Zapata). If you missed it, let’s get to your El Secreto de Selena recap.

El Secreto de Selena spoilers: Moving moment

The trial has a very intense moment as the tapes from the standoff are played. They portray a very distraught woman who keeps insisting she didn’t want to hurt anyone. She also is heard very clearly talking about being stabbed. She also claims in the recordings that Abraham Quintanilla (Jorge Zárate) raped her and pushed them to things. Selena was alledgedly hiding Yolanda because she was scared her father would hurt her.

The whole situation has more doubt thrown onto it as it’s revealed that only five of the nine hours were recorded. When Larry Young (Harding Junior), the negotiator, takes the stand, testimony turns toward his experience that night. He confirms that it is true Yolanda said multiple times it was an accident, and said he found it noteworthy that Yolanda place her head on his shoulder that night and cried. She apologized for causing him trouble.

El Secreto de Selena spoilers: Contradiction

Maria Celeste and others are confused today. Yolanda was ready to take her own life while in the truck. However, she’s also recorded going on about her fear that the SWAT team will hurt her. One of the legal advisors talking to her on her show believes that this is a huge farce. However, a later interview with an expert, Felix Trejo (Darío T. Pie), reveals that said expert doesn’t believe she could pull off such a convincing act. He thinks it would require too much planning, and there would have to be too many other things that would need to fall into place.

El Secreto de Selena spoilers: Follow up

At one point, after Larry testified, Maria Celeste tries to interview him about the standoff. He says he already said everything in court, but Maria Celeste begs him to answer at least one question off the record. He agrees, and Maria Celeste asks about him writing the word “abortion” in his notes. The way she phrases things, though, doesn’t get her an answer. He counts her bringing up how he wrote that on his pad and his affirmative response as one question.

The mystery gets even more intriguing for her when she learns Selena had a bag packed and a Mexican work permit in a bag the day she was murdered. This is revealed to her during a couple of talks with the defense team.

Later, in 1996, she asks to speak to him again about this as she’s writing the book. She wants to know why he wrote that particular word in all capital letters. He answers that Yolanda had an abortion back then after being raped.

El Secreto de Selena spoilers: Casting doubt

The trial also focuses on the fact that Yolanda was the one to bring up the fact the shooting was an accident, despite the fact that it was being portrayed initially as them suggesting this as part of a strategy to give her something to blame.

Her lawyer, Douglas Tinker (José Sefami), also gets a postcard delivered to him threatening harm if he does any to Selena’s memory.

El Secreto de Selena spoilers: Hallucinations

For the second time in this series, we see Yolanda hallucinating seeing Selena after her death. This time, Selena appears in her jail cell, and apologizes for the position Yolanda is in.

El Secreto de Selena spoilers: Suzette’s concern

While watching some TV coverage of the case, Suzette recalls going to the boutique to check on Selena’s availability for a family event. Yolanda checks the agenda, and Suzette watches her write the party into the planner. However, when the party gets going, Selena isn’t there.

In more flashback footage, we see that Suzette believes that Yolanda is smothering Selena. Suzette can barely get personal contact with her. She tells Selena to have a conversation with Yolanda about this, or she will.

El Secreto de Selena spoilers: Day interrupted

The call comes while Selena is seeing a property she wants to buy with Chris Perez (Daniel Elbittar). They are planning where things will go, but now they have to leave for the event.

Later, we see that Selena had confronted Yolanda about the incident. She checks the agenda and sees that the page for that day is missing, and wants to know if Yolanda got rid of it on purpose. Yolanda claims that she would have nothing to gain by purposefully failing to tell Selena about the get together. She also says she has no idea how the paper went missing, but promises that the agenda will be locked up from now on.

El Secreto de Selena spoilers: Unwanted gift

Maria Celeste is alone in a hotel following her argument with Manny (Moisés Arizmendi). He has flowers sent to her room to try winning her back, but she’s not having it. Instead, she makes a call to Larry, who she’d like to interview for her book. Looks like work is the way to drown out pain…
