While it doesn’t look like Prince Harry will be there, it’s at least good to know that another certain ginger will be present to kick off all of the festivities. There’s a new report that says chart topper Ed Sheeran will lead the tributes to Queen Elizabeth during the Platinum Jubilee celebration this summer. Here’s what you need to know.
Reports say Ed Sheeran will lead musical tributes to the Queen as part of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations over the June bank holiday weekend. The People’s Pageant – the carnival finale of the celebrations – will also see puppet corgis causing chaos along The Mall and a giant 3D wire bust of the monarch.

What’s more, the spectacle is set to be watched by up to a billion people across the world, with more than 10,000 people involved in the setup, including the military, more than 6,000 volunteers, performers and key workers and 2,500 members of the public. It will take place against the backdrop of Buckingham Palace and its surrounding streets on the afternoon of Sunday June 5 – the last day of the four-day bank holiday weekend marking the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.
In addition, this year the Royal Windsor Horse Show will mark the Platinum Jubilee with A Gallop through History, a spectacular equestrian display showcasing horses from across the globe. It has been billed as a “personal tribute to our monarchy” and will feature more than 500 horses and more than a thousand performers taking the audience on a journey from Elizabeth I to the Queen.
The Queen has recently marked another historic milestone in becoming the only British Monarch ever to achieve 70 years of reign. However, it seems like she’s also been canceling one event after another, but it’s not like anyone can blame her, right? The Queen skipped this year’s Commonwealth Day service.
But just as she was forced to miss the Cenotaph last year, she also missed the Commonwealth Day service in March – and the Queen has asked, once again, Prince Charles to represent her. Whether or not the queen will make it to her own jubilee celebrations remains to be seen.
