Last week on Days of Our Lives, Salem witnessed one of the biggest shockers the show has delivered in years when Lexie Carver walked straight into Stefano DiMera’s will reading alive. After more than a decade of everyone believing Lexie died from a brain tumor back in 2012, the final moments of Friday’s episode completely changed everything.
But now that the initial shock is wearing off, another major question is starting to take over heading into next week: does Lexie actually remember who she is?
Because the deeper viewers look at the storyline, the more uncertain her condition suddenly feels.
Lexie Looked Awake — But Something Felt Off

There’s no question Lexie’s entrance was dramatic. As the DiMera family stood beneath Stefano’s portrait raising their glasses during the final toast, the hidden tunnel door slowly opened and Lexie emerged alive, stunning everyone in the room.
But if you go back and really watch the scene carefully, Lexie didn’t exactly appear fully present emotionally.
She walked slowly into the room almost as if she were disoriented or trying to process where she was. There wasn’t an immediate emotional reaction when she saw Theo, Abe, or the rest of the family gathered there. Instead, the moment felt eerie and uncertain — which honestly makes sense considering what she’s apparently been through underneath the DiMera mansion all these years.
That’s what has many viewers wondering whether Lexie’s memories may have been affected by whatever Dr. Rolf and EJ did to keep her alive.
Dr. Rolf’s Experiments Rarely Come Without Consequences
One thing longtime Days viewers know very well is that Dr. Rolf’s experiments almost never end cleanly.

Over the years, Salem has seen memory loss, personality changes, implanted memories, mind control, and all kinds of psychological fallout connected to Rolf’s work. So the idea that Lexie could wake up after years in suspended animation completely unaffected honestly feels unlikely.
Especially after the scenes earlier in Friday’s episode.
Before the will reading even began, Rita openly questioned EJ about whether the process would work at all. EJ insisted they would “keep trying” if necessary, which made the entire situation sound incredibly unstable and experimental. Nothing about that conversation suggested Lexie’s condition was fully under control yet.
That alone raises huge questions about Lexie’s mental state moving forward.
Abe and Theo May Not Get the Reunion They Expect

That’s what could make next week’s episodes even more emotional.
Right now, Abe and Theo are likely just overwhelmed by the fact that Lexie is alive. But if Lexie struggles to remember parts of her life — or worse, doesn’t recognize them immediately — the reunion could become heartbreaking very quickly.
And honestly, Days may already be hinting at that possibility.
One of the most emotional scenes from Friday’s episode happened before Lexie even appeared onscreen, when Abe proudly told Theo that Lexie would be proud of the man he had become. At the time, it felt like a touching tribute to Lexie’s memory. But after the cliffhanger reveal, the scene suddenly became devastating in hindsight.
Now there’s a real possibility Theo and Abe could finally get Lexie back only to discover she’s not fully herself yet.
Stefano’s Influence May Still Be Controlling This Story
Another detail that feels important is the timing of Lexie’s return itself.

Lexie didn’t randomly wake up somewhere else in Salem. She emerged during Stefano’s will reading, in front of the entire DiMera family, almost as if the moment had been orchestrated specifically for maximum impact. Considering EJ and Dr. Rolf secretly kept her alive beneath the mansion for years, it’s hard not to wonder whether Stefano’s influence still somehow shaped this entire plan long before his death.
And if that’s true, who knows what else may have been done to Lexie while she was hidden underground.
That possibility becomes even more unsettling when you factor in next week’s spoilers teasing chaos surrounding the DiMeras immediately after Lexie’s return. Abe is about to learn that Paulina, EJ, Theo, and Marlena all knew pieces of the truth before he did, and emotions are almost guaranteed to explode.
At the center of all of it is Lexie herself — and viewers still don’t know how much she truly remembers.
Salem May Be Getting Lexie Back in a Very Different Way
Soap resurrections are rarely simple, especially on Days of Our Lives. While Salem is understandably celebrating the idea that Lexie is alive, the reality may be much more complicated than anyone expects.
Physically, Lexie may be back. But mentally and emotionally, there’s still a huge mystery surrounding what years in suspended animation may have done to her. And if her memories are damaged or incomplete, the fallout could affect every single person connected to her.
Because sometimes on Days, coming back from the dead is only the beginning of the real story.
