Dolly Parton has opened up on how she faced pressure to change the way that she looked.
Dolly Parton Recalls Being Pressured To Change The Way She Looked
The singer certainly does have her own style. Her country music has been accompanied by her long blonde hair and unique voice that has captivated audiences for a generation. And yet, in the early parts of her career, Dolly admitted that those within the industry wanted her to change.
In an interview, she said: “The main advice that people wanted to give me was to change my look and to go simpler with my hair and the way that I dress. Not to look so cheap, nobody was ever going to take me seriously, they would say.”
One of the reasons why Dolly decided to stick to her guns was the nature of her upbringing. The singer is part of a family, with 11 other siblings which gave her the opportunity to have many different viewpoints that shaped her outlook.
Not only that, but Dolly’s mother was very religious. And that is why she was grateful for the things she had in her life, even if they did not seem to be perfect for those that were around her. She added: “I see so many people more talented than me that never make it and the fact that I have just done so well I’m amazed myself.”
Nevertheless, Dolly has compromised to some degree when it comes to her looks. She has been very vocal about the cosmetic procedures she has had and one of those included the surgery on her breasts.
In the picture here, we can see that Dolly has had the surgery as she shows off her new look. She is wearing a silver dress and has a huge smile on her face. With that being said, it is not change that Dolly feared, but perhaps the fact that she was facing pressure from others to do so rather than being able to do it on her own terms.
