A lot of critics can’t help but wonder what is really going on with Vladimir Putin, and not just because of all the speculation about his mental health. It’s also because a lot of people noticed that his appearance has drastically changed in recently weeks, sparking some debate on whether or not the Russian president might have cancer. Here’s what you need to know.
There’s been so much talk about whether or not Putin may be suffering from a silent disease that even experts have been weighing in on the matter on social media. The Russian president appeared “bloated, irrational and lacking the cold control that he had been famed for” in the weeks leading up to the invasion of Ukraine.
Does Vladimir Putin Have Cancer?
This has prompted some to even say that he is suffering from a brain disorder caused by dementia, Parkinson’s disease or ‘roid rage’ resulting from steroid treatment for cancer.
As physician and body language expert Dr Jack Brown wrote on Twitter: “Any other clinicians think Putin’s face looks a bit ‘Moon face’?
He added: “Differential diagnosis include – Cushing’s Syndrome, extended corticosteroids, primary vs. secondary causes of elevated ACTH, adrenal tumors, etc). This could perhaps explain some of Putin’s mental-emotional change.”
Once a “svelte figure” Putin now seems “bloated and slow”, fuelling rumors he could be suffering from “cancer, a brain tumor or may have developed an addiction to steroids.”
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine said on Sunday he was ready to negotiate with Putin to put an end to his war once and for all. He told CNN: “I am ready for negotiations with him. I was ready over the last two years, and I think that without negotiations we cannot end this war.”
