Decisiones: Unos ganan, otros pierden spoilers reveal the series went political again. Sort of. The premiere dealt with a sensitive political issue, but it’s mostly stayed away from such topics. Monday, December 30th got back into the world of politics in a story about a man named Román Franco whose past catches up with him. But don’t worry, the only real connection is the fact this guy is running for office. Let’s take a look at how things played out.
Decisiones: Unos ganan, otros pierden spoilers—Monster underneath
This guy seems nice at first glimpse. However, when one digs deeper, we see he’s actually pretty controlling and abusive. Even Monica, the reporter who comes to his house to interview him, can see it. Carolina, his wife, protects him. We get a brief hint that something even darker lurks under the surface when he’s asked about past ties to a group of criminals.
Decisiones: Unos ganan, otros pierden spoilers—Past sins
The story takes a crazy turn when he and his family are kidnapped. It turns out his daughter, Mia, is in league with them, and they’re desperate to get proof of an old sin. When one of the kidnappers, Alejandra, discusses killing him, she has a change of heart and betrays those she once helped. It’s a tense and awesome examination of family loyalty overcoming his daughter’s disgust at how her mother is treated, as well as his past.
Decisiones: Unos ganan, otros pierden spoilers—The test
Things take an even crazier turn later. It seems that his sin was an act of cowardice that left an old associate dead. Alejandra, as the friend’s daughter, wants revenge, and she gets it. After Román’s wife sells him out to save their child, the proof of his crime is there for all the remaining kidnappers to see. Given this proof, Román is forced to apologize to a picture of the man. He claims he’s sorry for what he did, but is he really?
To find out, he’s put to an awesome test. Much like years ago, he has to choose between his life and someone else’s. This time, the other person is his daughter. We can’t even when he chooses his own life over hers, and apparently we’re not the only ones.
Decisiones: Unos ganan, otros pierden spoilers—Biggest loser
The great thing about this episode is the total reversal of fortune. Román ends up living and still in the political game, but he’s now the one under another’s thumb. His wife was so enraged by his choice to sacrifice their daughter, she gets the guts she needs (and the secrets) to take control of her home and her man. The best part is, she didn’t even have to lose her daughter in the process. The kidnappers had no intention of killing the girl. Everyone basically comes out of their choices with what they want—except the one who didn’t deserve it. That’s what we call a great ending. This episode, more than any other, actually makes us want a limited series with the characters.
