Days of Our Lives Spoilers: More Questions Arise Over Mysterious Lighter, Claire's Countdown To Meltdown Underway

Days of Our Lives spoilers relate that Hayley Chen (Thia Megia) and Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams) face an ICE interview, JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) questions Claire Brady (Olivia Rose Keegan) about the lighter, Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) is stunned, and Abe Carver (James Reynolds) makes a decision. In case you missed the Days of Our Lives spoilers for Thursday, let’s catch you up on the highlights with today’s Days of Our Lives recap.

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: More Questions Arise Over Mysterious Lighter, Claire’s Countdown To Meltdown Underway

Today was Hayley and Tripp’s first chance to convince the feds of their love so Hayley can stay in the States. Their interviewer brings up very uncomfortable questions, like Tripp’s previous well-documented relationship with Claire and the kiss JJ and Hayley shared. That last one was thanks to Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford). They get through that interview okay, but there’s surely more tests on the way to complicate things.

Speaking of complications, Claire is still plotting. She makes an excuse to leave after the alleged couple returns from their interview to let Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva) know it’s time to release the recording. And she still thinks she can pull that off without Tripp realizing she’s involved. She’s so adorably delusional. She’s really feeling the pressure today, by the way. JJ drops by the loft to ask her about that lighter he found. Claire is so nervous, we’re wondering how he believes a word of her excuses. The bottom line for JJ is, he thinks it’s very possible that might be the same lighter that Ben had once and that it might have been used in the first fire that almost killed Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal). He wants it for potential evidence. And the countdown to meltdown continues…

    Stand down

Speaking of Ben, he was just about to leave on a mission for Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash), much to Ciara’s disappointment. She’s scared of him running off to face some cartel members all alone. Lucky for her, Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) drops by to tell them about Jordan Ridgeway’s (Chrishell Hartley) latest bombshell. Ciara is skeptical, as Jordan mentioned nothing the entire time they were in that cabin, nor did she show any mom instincts toward baby Charlotte. Ben assures Hope that he knows nothing about this at all. When Hope leaves, he seems a bit hurt by Jordan’s silence. Ciara tries to assure him that Jordan’s the dangerous one, not him. They share a moment before Ben tells her he’s gotta get to work. Before he can leave, Stefan calls to apparently have Ben stand down for a bit.

    Political Problems

Abe is surprised when Ted Laurent (Gilles Marini) approaches him to hand over a letter of resignation, effective immediately. Abe isn’t too bothered by this, as he’s still pissy about having Ted’s blackmailing past kept quiet. As the Soap Gods would have it, Eve and Jack happen by just in time to hear that Ted’s resigning. And we’re thinking the town should invest in personal cones of silence in their own homes to discuss sensitive matters.

Lord knows this town is crawling with gossips who always appear exactly where needed to hear what they shouldn’t. Backed into a corner, Abe makes up a story about Ted resigning so him being born in France isn’t used by the opposition. He also gets mad enough at the pair to refuse acceptance of said resignation just to stick it to them. He tells Jack off, and once Abe and Ted are alone again, he says it’s better to keep him around at this point. He doesn’t want to risk the “vultures” finding out he didn’t personally vet Ted before giving him the job.

Later, Ted drops by to inform Hope he’ll be sticking around when Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) returns. She asks Rafe how the wild goose chase went, which apparently was not much of a wild goose chase. Uh oh. Given that Hope mentioned he and Jordan were together at one point, this has some very bad possibilities…
