‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers reveal that during an interview with Soap Opera Digest, AnnaLynn McCord admitted that Dan Feuerriegel, who plays EJ DiMera on the soap, gave her advice on how to bring quirky Cat Greene to life.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The Writers Leaned Into McCord’s Vision For Cat
McCord told the soap outlet that Dan guided her and played a key role in the development of her character.
“I got some advice from Dan, whom I love. We all call him Dany Fury because none of us want to mess up his last name,”

She quipped.
“When I was first on the show,”
He said,
‘Listen, you decide what you want for your character, and you fully go into it. And when the writers see the trajectory you’re taking, they tend to move with you and play with you,”
She shared.
McCord listened well to Dan. She plays Cat with a sense of ease and vulnerability. When Cat first arrives in Salem, she pretends to be Chad DiMera’s (Billy Flynn) late wife, Abigail Deveraux (last played by Marci Miller).
However, the only reason she did this was because Clyde Weston (James Read) forced her to marry Chad and gain the DiMera fortune for him. He threatened to kill her mother, Catherina Greene Meleounis (Susan Matus Elena), if she didn’t.
Viewers were understandably disgusted by Cat at first. However, once fans learned her motives and saw how much she seemed to truly care for Chad, they started to embrace Cat and AnnaLynn McCord’s portrayal of her.
Now, the audience is on board with Cat and waiting to see if she and Chad can get together. Sadly, Billy Flynn is only slated to appear on Days through 2026. He’s going to play a new character on The Young and the Restless.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Will EJ Try To Set Chad Up With Cat?
However, that may be enough time for fans to fall in love with Chad and Cat as a couple. Additionally, Cat is supposed to go on a date with EJ due to the charity bachelor auction for the hospital.
We have to wonder if this is a ruse for EJ to try to set his brother up with Cat since he knows Chad is interested in her.
After all, Chad is the one who found EJ after he was shot and made sure he got to the hospital. If Chad hadn’t shown up when he did, EJ would surely be dead.

EJ owes Chad a debt of gratitude, and fixing him up with Cat is the least he can do. McCord shared with Soap Opera Digest that in order to make Cat an endearing character, she channels a bit of Goldie Hawn and Lucille Ball’s style of performing.
McCord was eager to infuse a bit of quirkiness and levity into Cat. She didn’t want her character to be all “one-note.” She wanted Cat to have a fun, relatable energy that would entertain the viewers.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: McCord Is Having Fun With It
McCord confesses she was home-schooled, and she is a bit of an oddball. We can definitely see some of that in Cat’s personality.
Cat’s portrayer also said that she was so used to playing the stereotypical bad girl throughout her career that it was refreshing for her to play a different type of character.
McCord has received praise for her offbeat work.
“A lot of the producers and directors will come up to me, and they’ll get excited to collaborate about funny things that we can do to keep the quirks and throw little curveballs at maybe a character like Chad,”
She shared.
“So, I’m really having a lot of fun with it,”
She gushed.
“I would love to continue to play characters like this in my career forever. I really love it.”
