Cheryl Burke has spoken on her own experiences with abortion following the Supreme Court’s overruling of Roe v. Wade.

The new decision has now allowed individual states to decide whether or not abortion should be legal, as opposed to it being a widespread Federal mandate. And given that the ruling had stood for 50 years, Cheryl had something to say about the matter.
As such, she did not hold back on her disappointment at the ruling given that she had undergone an abortion when she was aged just 18. In a post to her fans on TikTok, she said: “I am saddened by the news this morning, and it weighs heavy in my heart because I had an abortion when I was 18 years old.
“And if it wasn’t for places like Planned Parenthood, I would be a mother.” Cheryl’s main concern was based on the fact that she was a huge proponent of freedom of choice. Therefore, by taking this right away and leaving it up to individual States, she felt it was an invasion of liberty.
With that being said, she questioned whether the Federal government had become too invasive. Her following comments confirmed as much: “What world do we live in today?It is nobody’s business.”
Nevertheless, Cheryl’s comments did not go down very well for the following reasons. First of all, she was called out for having a double standard when it came to deciding freedom of choice. This was on the basis that pro-life proponents felt she failed to acknowledge the wishes of the unborn baby in going ahead with the decision.
Secondly, if Cheryl was such a big proponent of abortion, then there would still be states out there that could accommodate her needs. With that being said, the comments were very hostile towards her.
One person wrote: “It’s not just about your life but the other “life” taken,” while another person stated: “What about babies rights. I was a teenager when I had my baby. My child is a nurse and is a blessing.”
