‘Counting On’ Spoilers finds that the podcast “I pray you put this journal away” is done by a man who grew up with the Duggars, specifically in their IBLP-based church.
He has gone into great detail about what actually went on during the time in which the first Duggar scandal started, when Josh was sent to dig out a pond instead of sent to an actual therapist who could have helped prevent the federal sentencing going on now, and the poor Duggar girls were left to deal with the fallout of sexual molestation by themselves, because according to the IBLP it’s a woman’s fault if a brother stumbles.
‘Counting On’: Ahem
This organization, along with the media outlet, TLC, who has given them such a mouthpiece has basically fed everyone a lie about how the Duggars are just a happy religious family who worships in an extreme way. But the real question is, has all this publicity become a mouthpiece for a cult?
Some would argue, yes. Because somehow the Duggars managed to hide for so long what was actually going on behind closed doors, even while things were being filmed. None of Josh’s discipline was ever covered by TLC on the show because they kept it from being covered, and while the men always got to get up in the middle of church and speak about their trauma, the women are expected to remain silent.
The thing about this church is that the beliefs they hold about women are about as misogynistic as they get. Whatever happens to a man within a marriage, it’s always the woman’s fault. Even if a woman is forcibly raped against her will, it’s always her fault, she caused him to stumble, she caused him harm, and forget about speaking out.
Forget about having your day in church with your accuser because women are not allowed to speak within this church. Probably because if they did, the entire IBLP world would be rocked with the amount of dirty cover-ups going on within these familes, most of whom arrange marriages and then wonder why on earth the marriages fall apart later, usually because the kids are so heavily chaperoned beforehand that they don’t get to know each other. Choice is not big on the IBLP agenda – marriage and babies is.
‘Counting On’: It’s a control thing.
All for what, though? It’s not simply for the glory of God anymore, there’s something else driving these people, and if you notice, just like Jim Bob a lot of them that are really deep in the faith want some kind of political power. This whole thing is no longer about the teachings of Jesus, because let’s face it, Jesus never wanted political power or control, He said that His kingdom was not of this earth.
This is about people on earth who just want political power. I think that’s their ultimate goal. While the Duggars show makes this lifestyle look idyllic for some people, ask anyone who escaped the Taliban regime, when religion and government combine – it’s a bad thing. Maybe TLC needs to normalize separating church and state. Stay tuned!!!
